This selective programme provides you with a mix of theoretical and empirical knowledge in forensic psychology. Furthermore, the programme includes hands-on training in forensic assessment, therapy and expert witness skills. This combination makes the programme unique. Forensic Psychology is the application of scientific and professional aspects of psychology to questions and issues relating to law and the legal system.

Forensic psychologists always operate with two goals in mind: the safety of society and the well-being of the offender-patient. They need specialised knowledge in areas such as offender typologies, criminal and juvenile law, psychopathy, malingering, sexual offending, trauma and victimisation, risk assessment, and offender treatment. The first year of the programme prepares you for your clinical and research internships and your master's thesis during the second year.

Can we help you? Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, you may have additional questions about starting or completing your application. instruction modes
Problem-Based Learning and student centred learning are the key teaching methods. Both methods use small groups that promote discussion and debate, and facilitate interaction between academic staff and students. Students are challenged to take an active role in the learning process.

The skills labs offer hands-on training. Students practice assessment and therapy skills during class and work on other cases as homework.
The two-year master's programme in Forensic Psychology will deliver scientist-practitioner forensic psychologists with both knowledge of mental disorders and their evidence-based assessment and treatment, specific to forensic settings. The first year of the two-year programme prepares the students for their clinical and research internship, and their master's thesis during the second year.
